MAGES, the company behind a number of popular Anime visual novels, has appointed a new CEO.
In an official announcement on the MAGES company website, Makoto Asada has been revealed to be the replacement for Kengo Honjo as the president and CEO of MAGES. This change became official last December 19, 2024.
With Asada’s appointment, Hirotaka Kawai, Youichi Ikeda, and Kazunobu Takita have also been appointed as executive officers, while Rintarou Mori has been appointed as auditing officer. Kengo Honjo retired from the position effective December 31, 2024, alongside executive officers Michiko Koyanagi and Yoshiaki Harai.
MAGES is currently working on major releases, those being two upcoming entries to their Steins;Gate visual novel series. The first, Steins;Gate 0 Elite, will be an updated version of the 2015 Steins;Gate 0 visual novel and will include full animation while Steins;??? will be the thematic sequel to the original Steins;Gate visual novel released in 2009. The titles have yet to receive a release date since being announced.
Besides Steins;Gate, MAGES is also known for visual novels like Corpse Party, Plastic Memories, the KonoSuba visual novel series, and Famicom Detective Club.
Additionally, MAGES is also a record label that handles video game and anime music. Some notable artists under their label include: Kanako Ito; who provided songs for visual novels such as Steins;Gate, School Days, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri, and songs for anime titles like Please Twins! Myself;Yourself, Hatenko Yugi, and Occultic;Nine; and Asami Shimoda, who also provided her voice for popular Vocaloid voice banks Kagamine Rin and Len.
