V.W.P will be performing the new theme song for the series.
Fans of mecha anime get ready, as a new anthology project featuring powerful robots and cutting-edge technology will make it to the screens this year. Titled MIRU: Paths to My Future, this project will be divided into five parts. The anthology series is being produced by Yanmar, a heavy machinery and diesel engine manufacturer, who wants this project to lead people toward a brighter future where machines and humans live in harmony in nature. The series is executive produced by Masuo Ueda (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Black Butler, Boruto: Naruto the Movie).
On January 21, 2025, the series’ official X (formerly Twitter) account released some info about its theme song. The series will air sometime in April 2025, although a definitive release date is yet to be revealed.
As per the announcement, this innovative project’s theme song is called Ai-Uta, and a short part of it was released on the X account. Fans will be glad to learn that the song is being performed by V.W.P aka Virtual Witch Phenomenon- a group that consists of five virtual artists. The track is being produced by Akihiro Tomita, with Hibiki writing the lyrics. Noriyasu Agematsu and Yusuke Takeda from Elements Garden are in charge of composing and arranging the song.
The upcoming mecha anime centres around a robot named MIRU, who can travel to time and dimension. Unlike other robots, MIRU wasn’t created for violence, but instead to offer solace to people and help them overcome obstacles in a grounded and peaceful manner. As it travels across timelines and realities, MIRU becomes everyone’s hope for a better and more peaceful future. Since it’s an anthology, it will likely include five different stories of people MIRU visits. People are excited to see what this new mecha sci-fi project brings.
