Shin starts working at Sakamoto's store and proves to be a really diligent employee. He excitedly talks to Sakamoto about how he killed the gangsters the previous day, which his wife Aoi overhears. She asks if this is true and threatens that she’ll divorce him if he ever kills anyone. Sakamoto, who’s scared of his wife’s threat, says that he hasn’t killed anyone and only knocked them out. Later, Sakamoto takes Shin to Nikita Chinatown, where he buys some pork buns for his family from a vendor. However, a ruckus soon breaks out, and a girl breaks out of a high window. Unfortunately, she falls on top of Sakamoto, ruining the pork buns.

The girl is revealed to be Lu Shaotang, and a few more gangsters soon surround her. Although she fights off most of them using Tai Chi, one of them grabs hold of her and threatens to hurt her. Sakamoto and Shin then intervene, knocking out the thugs and running away with Lu. The scene moves to another man, the CEO of Dan Inc. who says that he killed Lu’s entire clan because of a key she has. He hires two dangerous assassins, Son Hee and Bacho, to kill her and take the key. While running away, Lu tells Shin and Sakamoto about the key and how she can never hand it over or destroy it because her parents died protecting it. Suddenly, Bacho comes out of nowhere and kicks Sakamoto off the roof into another building.

A fight breaks out between the murderous twins, Shin and Lu. Apparently, both Son Hee and Bacho are sadistic contract killers who make sketches of their victims’ severed heads. Suddenly, Sakamoto appears and rams Bacho’s head onto the ground, breaking through the roof and into a room underneath. At first, the twins underestimate Sakamoto and try to slice him up with his weapons. But the master ex-assassin uses everyday items to defeat them. However, he doesn’t kill them. Shin is able to read a memory of a Christmas day when Aoi made Sakamoto promise never to kill anyone and save them instead, which tears Shin up. After beating them up and restraining the villains, Sakamoto asks Lu to make pork buns for his family.

The three of them reach the Dan Inc. headquarters and Lu brutally beats up the CEO without killing him. She then opens the massive chest her family died to protect and sees that many treasures are piled up there including precious gems, gold, and even teddy bears and other mundane things. She sees that her father left behind some expensive sake that he wanted to drink with her once she came of age. She offers the sake to Sakamoto and Shin, and the three of them spend some quality time together. The next day, Sakamoto has a terrible hangover, and Shin’s voice bothers him. Suddenly, Lu enters the shop and announces that she’ll be making pork buns here from now on. Elsewhere, the JAA put a one-billion yen bounty on Sakamoto’s head.

Sakamoto Days episode 2 review

After a moderately slow start, the latest episode of the anime amped up the action to the max in the latest episode. The fight between Lu’s attackers and the three was short but well-done. The short and sweet memory in between was a really nice touch as well. Fans are happy to see Lu settling into the Sakamoto household. However, with the JAA putting a bounty on Sakamoto’s head, things are about to get really messy for the protagonist.

The Sakamoto Days episode 3 release date is set to be Saturday, January 25, 2025. You will be able to watch the anime on Netflix.
